Ministry Teams

The different ministry teams present the face of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour to the congregation and to the community.

Communication and Information Systems

This team maintains the Web Site for the church and coordinates communication between congregational members and the community.

Giving Tree Preschool - Church Weekday Education Board

This team works with to guide and support the Giving Tree Preschool.  It is a service to the parents of young children of the church and community, and an outreach of the church in its mission.

Education

Reviews performance of Adult Education program and makes recommendations to for improvement.  The committee also promotes growth in adult classes, reviews curriculum, evaluates space and resource needs, identifies leadership, and assists with training and recognition.

Evangelism

The Evangelism team encourages and trains members to witness their faith at every opportunity in their daily lives and promotes publicity of the congregation in community brochures, newspapers, etc. This team contacts, by letter or phone, all visitors to our congregation and invites them to participate in our congregation. 

Fellowship

This team plans and implements Fellowship opportunities inside and outside the church. It sponsors such activities as LCOS Night at the Diamond, Thanksgiving Family Dinner, River Cruises, Dining Out groups, and various other activities. 

Finance

This team, of which the treasurer is ex-officio a member, advises the Congregation Council regarding the financial affairs of the congregation so that they may be conducted efficiently.

Outreach

The Outreach team is attentive to the needs of our own membership and to the needs of the community. It sponsors individuals and families through the Lutheran Family Services, by putting together donated Thanksgiving food baskets for 12 families, & for the Chesterfield Christmas Mother program during the Holiday season, where we put together donated food baskets & donated gifts for 12 families. It sponsors Food Pantry Sunday the first Sunday of each month to help stock shelves of the local food pantries and provides and serves casserole lunches at Richmond Friends of the Homeless, It has sponsored CARITAS for one week each summer at the church to provide shelter for the homeless of the community and has become involved in Habitat for Humanity.  It also sponsors events to benefit World Hunger and Lutheran Disaster Relief on a monthly basis. It makes available Equal Exchange coffee & chocolate to be purchased, once a month, which benefits the "small farmers" in countries all over the world.

Outreach also provides support for the Lutheran Family Service children on a monthly basis. Outreach participates in the Bible-a-month project, prepares Easter baskets, as well gather school supplies annually for children at Richmond Friends of the Homeless.

Property

This team is responsible for the maintenance of all church owned property and buildings. The committee plans year round preventative maintenance and routine care. It organizes a Workday each month to encourage and direct the congregation volunteers in taking care of buildings and grounds. 

Stewardship & Memorials

The Stewardship team is responsible for monitoring the Time, Talent and Treasure giving of the entire congregation and will provide guidance and encouragement to members on how Christians as stewards of God's creation might better manage their gifts. The team conducts the Annual Campaign for Time and Talent and reports these results to Church Council, appropriate teams and the congregation. This committee also assists new members in finding their niche in the congregation so that their gifts and talents can be put to good use.

The Memorials Team provides opportunities for members to give appropriate gifts by compiling a list of needed items. It oversees the procurement of pledged items and makes the information available to the congregation by publishing the names of the individuals being remembered or honored. The Memorial Fund is a means to remember loved ones who have died and an opportunity for gifts of Thanksgiving to honor important events in our lives, such as, births and anniversaries.  

Worship and Music

This team is responsible for the selection of all liturgies and orders of worship used by the congregation. It is responsible for planning worship services to include the participation of altar guild functions, lector, acolytes, communion assistants, ushers and nursery staff. The team recruits and trains all members of LCOS interested in participation in these assignments. It supervises and supports the Choir and Choir Director. It is also responsible for the care and maintenance of worship furnishings, i.e., books of worship, altar furnishings, paraments and vessels.  Worship and Music is accountable for the procurement of worship supplies and for the preparation for worship.

Youth

This team coordinates youth ministry efforts on behalf of the middle school and high school youth. It plans youth projects, Synod youth events, and fundraisers.
