Pastoral Services

Our congregation offers a variety of pastoral services.  These include:

	Visits from our pastor
	Counseling for individuals or families
	Classes for special events like baptism or marriage.

Throughout the year we will offer special classes to meet the concerns and needs of our members. Classes offered include the following:

	Confirmation
	First Communion
	Baptism

VISITATION 

Please call the church office if you or a family member is hospitalized, in a nursing home, or homebound due to illness or accident. Our pastor can visit with you and even arrange for private communion if you are unable to attend church. 

COUNSELING 

Many people turn to churches for assistance with personal or family problems. Our pastor is trained to help you or can make a referral to an appropriate community resource. 

PRE-MARRIAGE CLASSES 

Marriage is an important step in life. We want to help you develop the skills for a lasting relationship. 

CONFIRMATION 

Confirmation instruction is available at LCOS over a two- (2) year period. 

Confirmation I is open to all rising 7th graders each fall. Confirmation I is a survey of the Old and New Testaments.

Confirmation II is for all students who have completed the first year class. Confirmation II explores Luther's Small Catechism and issues of faith today.

Pastor Ruppar teaches both classes. 

FIRST COMMUNION

Does your child ask questions about receiving the Sacrament of Holy Communion? Does your child understand forgiveness? Are you ready to take your child on the next step of the faith journey? If you answered yes to any of these questions and your child is approximately 10 years old, please consider enrolling in First Communion Classes. We explore your child's baptism, the covenant you made at that baptism and the sacrament of Holy Communion. This is a parent and student course.

BAPTISM

Parents seeking baptism for their child or adults requesting baptism meet in this class and discuss our baptismal rite. We will review Luther's Small Catechism regarding the wonder and power of this Sacrament.
