Below are some of this years' previous youth events.
| Amazing Grace Café |
It's a Concert
We have confirmed the return of Exit9 and Kerensa Gray to come back and
play for us. Also, some local bands have asked if they could perform.
We surely don’t lack for talent.
AUGUST 1st is the date.
Talk to some of your friends. If anybody wants a
chance to perform at open mike, this is a great opportunity. We already
have our first act lined up (right Clancey?).
Born in the basement of a downtown church, the Columbia, SC based duo of Exit 9 has grown into a full rockin' music ministry. For more information about Exit 9, please click here.
Kerensa performs contemporary Christian music infused with jazz, folk, and blues. She recently won the Billie Holiday vocal competition in Baltimore on July 19th. For more info about Kerensa, please click here.
Of course, the cafe is a great place to practice your live performance skills in a low pressure environment.
And of course, don’t forget that both Kerensa and Exit 9 will worship with us Sunday August 2. There will be a picnic reception after the service. Hamburgers and hotdogs will be provided. Please sign up to attend and bring a dish to share. This is a great way to “Party with the Rock Stars” and say thank you for the great witness these performers provide. |

God Does Make House calls
Keep listening to Decemberadio’s Love Can. That is the theme for
this year.
We still need a mom to chaperone. Please consider this service. If you
are thinking about it, but you are not sure if you have the skills,
don’t worry about that. Talk to any of the alumni. Everybody has a
different story, but I think everyone will agree that you come away from
the week stronger than when you started. You will know more about
scraping and painting, more about helping others, more about being a
mentor and a friend, you will know more about yourself and your
relationship to God. |
Water Day
June 20th |
OK, let’s get
started early this year. We hate rain days, but we hate “no rain” days
even more.
We can celebrate the end of the school year with this event. The weather and water
should be great. We are working out the details, but we have choices
about the campground. Whippernock Marina is on Lake Chesdin and we have
had fun there last couple trips. However, while the travel time stays
about the same, Lake Anna offers a much bigger lake and more places to
explore.
If you have a preference, please let Steve or Marty know. That will help in planning.
Moms and Dads, this trip really needs you to be successful. Please give Marty a call if
spending a day on the lake sounds like fun. |
Hunger
Rumble 2009

Hunger Rumble Helps Teach About Hunger and Service
We met at Christ the King Lutheran Church for the FIRST EVER Hunger
Rumble. As a group, we wanted to focus our work against hunger through
the Lutheran Hunger Appeal. We had a good time, even though the group
from Lutheran Church of Our Saviour was small. There were all of the
usual activities, kickin’ back, a little yard work and singing. But
during the Hunger Rumble, it is all done while fasting.
Many, Many thanks go to Maurice and Diane as chaperones. Take a look at the pictures. |
Challenge Discovery
RALLY Event
April 18th
8am - 1pm
|
Challenge Discovery
This is a fun, experiential and effective way to bring people together to
build a cohesive team. In Venture Up! 1/3 of our program will be focused
on "low ropes" activities. These are problem-solving activities on the
ground that require team members to listen to each other, make decisions
together and rely on each other to accomplish the task. The other 2/3 of
our program will be focused around a "high ropes" activity. These events
help team members push past their perceptions of what they can do while
they are being supported by their team.
This is a RALY
event, so all of your friends from across Richmond will be there. Also,
it is a great time to share an event like this with friends from school
or the neighborhood.
We will meet at
Lutheran Church of Our Saviour first and then car pool up to Doswell,
Virginia. Challenge Discovery is next door to King’s Dominion. Bring a
bag lunch and some extra chips or snacks to share. We will provide the
drinks. We will have lunch on site in the picnic area after the
program.
The cost is $35.00 per
person. Bring your money with you to the event. We will send
out a separate RSVP in the next few weeks to get a count. |
