Welcome to the Lutheran Church of Our Saviour website.  We call ourselves simply LCOS.  Our congregation was founded in 1979 and is located on a major thoroughfare on the southwest side of the city of Richmond in Chesterfield County.  At the end of 2006 we had a membership of 546.  On an average Sunday last year we had 148 friends and neighbors gather together in worship. 

Our congregation motto is simply “Proclaiming Christ”  There are two activities of this congregation where we do this most effectively.  The first is in our worship.  Jesus Christ is the center of our worship as we meet weekly for celebrating God’s love to us in Jesus.  Our worship style  follows the traditional liturgy of the Lutheran Church.  Within the familiar structure of worship we often try new songs or words to express our faith.  Worship is the center of our life together.

The other area of ministry where “Proclaiming Christ” is  seen most clearly is our outreach ministry to the community near us and across the globe.  We are active in local programs for feeding and sheltering the homeless.  Throughout the year we support global efforts to reduce hunger and poverty and help people recover from disasters.  In all that we do, we seek to show others that Christ has a real message of help and hope for all. 

As pastor of this congregation it is my privilege to serve with people who share a deep commitment to the Gospel of Jesus Christ and his call for us to be in service to others.
